Ricky Butts

10A

Auburn University, BBC, 1971

Faulkner University, MA, Biblical Studies (Major Track in Family and Youth Development), 2006

I have served as a teacher for the past 16 years at Mobile Chirstian School and on the school's board of trustees for approximately 15 years prior to that. I am married to Freda, the women I have loved since college. All three of our sons and one of our daughters-in-law graduated from Mobile Christian School.

The road I traveled to become a teacher was a winding one.  I left my career as owner of a construction company and began teaching

because of the opportunity to educate teenagers about Christ. He is the Way to the Father. He

can Change all of our lives so that we can have a truly abundant life here and an eternal life in heaven

with Him. Teenagers are generally excited to learn about Jesus.

It is my privilege and joy to teach Bible class each day for grades 9-12. I also have the opportunity to chair the Bible department. We strive to understand the message of the Bible

text that was intended for the original audience. We try to put the message in the context of the ancient audience and then derive meaningful applications to our modern lives. I

also have the opportunity to teach about God's creation in physics.

This year I also have the honor to serve as college and career counselor for 11th and 12th grades. This is a dynamic and often turbulant period in which many decisions that set the course of your life will be made. It is a challenge to chart a course where by each student successfully completes the journey to becoming a mature, productive adult that utilizes all of their talents for the betterment of our society and, most importantly, for the glory of God.

Of the many scriptures that are meaningful to life, my favorites include Matthew 6:33, John 17,

Psalms, Romans 6:3-11, Romans 12:1-2, and Phillipians. I enjoy many songs including "In Chirst Alone" and "Walking Alone at Eve".

God has bless me tremendously and I enjoy many things in this life. I love football and coached football at MCS for 11 years. I love autumn and winter in the woods of Central Alabama. I especially appreciate the sun rising on a frosty morning over Pigeon Creek. I love Auburn University - WAR EAGLE!!! I love Mobile Christian School and its mission. I love our church family all over the

world especially at Creekwood Church of Christ where I server as elder and family minister. I love our physical family which includes our sons, their wives, and our grandsons - Lincoln, Philip, and Brock. Most of all I love God and His Son Jesus Christ.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in the future.

News & Events

Fellowship for Christian Standards is a group of middle school and high school students who have decided to live their lives by the moral standards Christ taught in His life on earth. These students meet each Thursday morning in the Leopards Den for student led devotionals to encourage one another in this effort.  So, grab you a chicken biscuit from the Service Club and join us for fellowship, a devotional lesson taught by a student, singing led by a student, and prayers led by students.  We look forward to seeing you there.

There is a devotional each Friday morning around the flagpole - weather permitting.  When it is raining or too cold, the group meets in Coach Butts' room.  We look forward to seeing you at the pole each week!
