K-3 through 10th grade
As counselor for K-3 through tenth grade, I will strive to provide our students with personal, social, academic, and spiritual counseling. I will advocate for students and work with other individuals to promote the academic, career, personal, social, and spiritual development of the students in these age groups. This includes helping students evaluate their abilities, interests, talents, and personalities to develop realistic academic and career goals. In the lower grades, I will work with the teachers and administrators to insure that the curriculum addresses both the academic and the developmental needs of students.
On all levels, our goal is to help students to understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems. We will emphasize preventive and developmental counseling to enhance students' personal, social, and academic growth and to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with problems before they worsen. We will interact with students individually, in small groups, or as an entire class. We will also consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, school administrators, school psychologists, medical professionals, and social workers to develop and implement strategies to help students succeed.
College and Career Counseling
Career exploration is often a lengthy and complex process. The student is charged with the task of choosing a profession that matches their purpose in life, personality, passion, and power (i.e., talents). Teenagers are required to make several hard decisions with far reaching implications at a time in life when they are short on experience. We endeavor to assist them as they make good decisions now so that they will enjoy success in the future. This success is derived from the proper use of their talents as they serve God, family, and fellow man.
Choosing the right college follows the choice of a career. There are many factors to consider when choosing a college. This too can be a confusing process for both the students and their parents. During the junior and senior years, we will counsel the students individually, as a group in their class, and with their families to insure that all academic and testing needs are met in a timely manner.
